Liz Gilbert first moved toKenya in 1991 and has workedas a photographer in Africa forover ten years, covering newsin Somalia, Rwanda, Sudan andthe Congo throughout the1990's.
Her photographs of conflicts and socialissues in the region have appeared in TIME,Newsweek, The New York Times,Stern andParis Match. During the past five years she has beenworking on long term photo essay projects,photographing the burden of preventablediseases for the Bill and Melinda GatesFoundation, and completing her forthcomingbook, BROKEN SPEARS: A MAASAIJOURNEY, a photographic study of Maasaiculture, which is due in bookstoresOctober 1st, 2003. Today she divides hertime between Africa and New York City.
